About Phil Belair
My work is rooted in a deep appreciation for the landscapes of Wisconsin—the quiet woods, winding waterways, and the wildlife that inhabits them. Watercolor allows me to explore the subtle shifts of light and atmosphere in these places, capturing moments that feel both fleeting and familiar.
I am drawn to subjects that reflect a sense of connection: the serenity of a shoreline, the presence of a visiting whitetail deer, or the character expressed in the eyes of a beloved pet. Whether I’m painting a landscape or a portrait, I aim to honor the spirit of the subject and the feeling it evokes.
After many years in the worlds of advertising, design, and teaching, painting has become my way of slowing down and paying attention to the natural world around us. Each piece is an invitation to pause, look closely, and find beauty in every day.
If you’re interested in commissioning a painting, or if something on this site has caught your eye, I’d be happy to hear from you at philbelairpaintings@gmail.com.
